Dorothy George

I am fully qualified accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

As a registered member of UK Council for Psychotherapy I work within their ethical and confidentiality guidelines, and am bound by the ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I work with a wide range of issues such as mild/moderate anxiety; bereavement; depression; relationship issues; stress associated with work, confidence and self-esteem, family, relationship and childhood related issues.

As an integrative therapist I work with you to understand how and why we behave and think the way we do and to use this understanding to improve our lives. We do this through an understanding of how you communicate with yourself and others and how this is expressed through your behaviour. Through knowledge of this you can choose to make those changes that will help you achieve what you want out of life.

I will provide a safe, non-judgemental environment in which we can work together to enable you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and set new goals for the future.

Prior to completing my qualifications in Psychotherapy I have worked in the public sector for 20 years setting up and managing a range of innovative services such as parenting, adult education, childcare and women's projects.

Initial consultations give us an opportunity of deciding whether to engage in a contract for therapy and to ensure that you feel safe and comfortable in the environment.

At this first session, we can also discuss how we can work together and how many sessions you are likely to require.

I offer both short and long term therapy. The number of sessions required varies from client to client.
