My name is Frankie and I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor.
How Counselling Can Help:
It can be a big decision to consider coming for counselling and you may be having a difficult time right now and feel unsure of what you need. I offer a safe and confidential space where you will have time to reflect and talk about the difficulties you are facing.
Working together you will be able to explore what is going on for you and work towards understanding and finding ways to resolve these areas of difficulty. This can involve making new decisions about how you manage feelings and handle situations when they arise.
Who Do I Work With:
I work with adults of all ages with a wide range of concerns and needs. Through discussing what you are wanting to gain from working together, we can clarify whether you need long term in-depth therapy or shorter term counselling.
I frequently see people who are dealing with low self esteem, stress, anxiety, family issues, work related difficulties, feeling sad, depression, grief and relationship issues such as separation and divorce.
I have particular experience with people who are:
• caring for others
• parents including those of children with autism and other difficulties
• dealing with long term illness
• wanting to understand themselves better
Where Am I Based:
I currently work from Azure Therapy in Whitley Bay. This is a lovely therapy centre that offers a secure and safe environment where you will be looked after. The counselling rooms are accessed via a staircase. There is on street parking in the surrounding area and a multi story carpark close by. Please visit their website for more details.
Training, qualifications & experience:
I trained with The Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling (www.northernguild.org) and have 5 years experience of working with people with a wide range of difficulties.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy
I am a member of the BACP (membership No: 860169) and The Northern Guild and abide by their code of ethics.
A session costs £45 for individuals and is 50 minutes long.
Payment is taken at the beginning of our session and you can pay by cash to me directly at the beginning of our session or by card in the reception area of Azure.
What Happens When We Meet For The First Time:
We will have a brief telephone conversation and arrange a convenient time to meet for the first time. This will be an introduction and assessment session and will last for approximately 60 - 75 minutes. This first stage (up to 15 minutes) will be an introduction to the process and I can answer any questions you may have at that time. If at the end of this you decide it doesn’t feel right or that it is not for you we can say our goodbyes and there will be no fee.
If you wish to continue we will continue with the assessment stage for which the hourly rate is payable.
The assessment is a conversation where I ask you questions about yourself, why you’ve decided to come to therapy and what you hope to achieve. No therapy takes place at this stage. On completing the assessment you are invited to decide if you want to go ahead with therapy and complete an agreement to continue working together.
I hope that this has answered some of your questions about what might happen, but please feel free to contact me if you need further information. Choosing a counsellor or therapist is a big decision and it is important to feel that the person you choose is right for you.
