Scott Carter-Dowding
I am a qualified humanistic counsellor, with a belief that everyone has the ability, strength, and inner courage to overcome life’s challenges and emotional distress.
I am trained to work with adults and adolescents from the age of 16, and I am a registered member of the BACP. I hold an advanced DBS certificate, and I am dedicated to my own professional development as a practitioner through CPD courses and further education.
I work with wide variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, anger, trauma, ptsd, and complex ptsd.
When working with clients I apply an integrative approach, utilising interventions from Person-centred therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Attachment theory, to help clients achieve understanding, self-acceptance, and compassion.
During sessions I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment where the client can explore their experiences from a secure base allowing them to achieve a greater self-awareness and sense of self.
